“Embodiment can be simply defined as living life informed through the sense experience of the body.”
— Ann Saffi Biasetti
Our whole experience of life is largely based on what we are feeling in our bodies at any given moment. Feeling comfortable and at home in our ‘life vehicle’ gives us a firm foundation from which to relate to the outer world.
Knowing where we are in space, having mastery over our limbs and the ability to be in touch with our intuition or ‘gut knowing’ all give us a clear sense of ourselves.
Being able to engage in life, move through our days with ease, play with abandon, relate to others and feel joy are all results of healthy embodiment. True self-esteem comes not from “good job”or “here’s a gold star”. It comes from an embodied sense of being capable – knowing “I can do it”. It is built by doing household tasks, climbing, running, jumping, hammering, stirring, baking, swimming. Engage in life physically whenever possible. Move. Create. Live life.
